How WebURLTracker collects, stores, and uses account and monitoring data.
Last updated September 3, 2026
Who we are
WebURLTracker (weburltracker.com) is a website change monitoring service. This policy explains what we collect when you use the product, the Chrome extension, and our marketing site.
Questions: email [email protected].
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run your account and the monitors you create.
- Account details from our auth provider (Clerk): name, email, and user id.
- Workspace and monitor settings you enter: URLs, selectors, intervals, alert destinations, and team membership.
- Capture data for your monitors: text extracts, screenshots, diffs, and related metadata.
- Local (Chrome) check extracts when you run monitors in your browser: we receive the extract for your account, not a full browser session dump.
- Usage and billing metadata needed for plan limits and invoices.
- On the production website only, anonymous usage events via Firebase Analytics (page views, device/browser). We do not load this on localhost or the development host.
- Basic server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention.
How we use data
We use your data to operate WebURLTracker: run checks, store baselines, show diffs, send alerts you configured, enforce plan limits, and support your workspace.
We do not sell your data. We do not use the content of pages you watch to train AI models or to serve ads.
Chrome extension
The extension uses your existing WebURLTracker session. It does not ask you to paste an API token. It needs access to the pages you monitor so it can read the regions you selected.
It does not sell browsing data, and it does not use watched-page content for advertising.
Processors and hosting
We rely on a small set of processors to run the service:
- Clerk: authentication and session management.
- Google Firebase Analytics: page-view and usage measurement on the production website.
- Cloud infrastructure (compute, database, object storage): account data, monitor config, screenshots, and extracts.
- Email and alert channels you connect (for example webhook or email destinations you configure).
Retention
Monitor history and screenshots are kept according to your plan’s retention window. When you delete a monitor, we remove its stored captures from active storage as part of normal cleanup.
Account records stay while your account is open. You can ask us to delete your account; see the GDPR page for rights requests.
Cookies and similar tech
We use cookies and local storage needed for sign-in, session continuity, and basic product preferences. On the production website we also use Firebase Analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Security
We use encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls on workspace data, and SSRF guards on monitor URLs. More detail is on the Security page.
Children
WebURLTracker is built for business and professional use. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect for new processing where practical.
